Transforming lives through creative writing, publishing real stories from behind bars to the world beyond.
It's an invitation. A partnership. A bridge.
Behind prison walls exist some of the most powerful untold stories of our time. The HINAHO Initiative believes that creative expression isn't a privilege—it's a fundamental pathway to transformation, healing, and reintegration.
We provide creative writing workshops in correctional facilities across Georgia, but we go further. Through our publishing platform, participants earn real royalties from their published work on Amazon. Because dignity means compensation. Support means opportunity. And help means come with me, not here's charity.
"The most powerful stories are often written in the places society chooses not to look."— The HINAHO Philosophy
Each program builds on the last, creating a complete journey from access to publication
Access to Literary Worlds
We donate books to correctional facilities, building libraries where none exist and expanding collections where they do. Every writer begins as a reader. Every imagination needs fuel.
Workshops That Transform
Professional creative writing workshops led by published authors and experienced educators. Participants learn craft, find their voice, and develop publishable work through structured curriculum and mentorship.
Real Publishing, Real Royalties
The culmination: publication on Amazon Kindle Direct Publishing (KDP). Authors receive 100% of their royalties, deposited to their commissary accounts. Their words reach the world. They earn from their art. Dignity is restored.
Studies show that education and creative programs reduce recidivism rates by up to 43%. But beyond statistics, creative writing offers something profound: the chance to rewrite your own narrative, to process trauma, to develop empathy, and to contribute something meaningful to the world.
Our programs align with the Georgia Department of Corrections' Performance Incentive Credit Program, supporting their mission of successful reintegration through education and skill development.
Published authors earn actual income from their work. These aren't token payments—they're real royalties from real book sales. This matters for commissary, for family support, and most importantly, for dignity.
When one person finds their voice, they inspire others. When one story is published, it opens doors for the next. When one facility embraces creative programming, others take notice.
We're not just publishing books. We're building a movement.
